Built for long journeys and serious loads
The Traverse 165 is made for longer winter journeys where carrying capacity, stability and durability really matter. With a recommended packing volume of around 390 litres, it gives you the space to carry food, fuel, camping equipment and winter gear for extended trips and expeditions.
At 165 cm long and 56 cm wide, the Traverse 165 provides a stable platform for heavier loads while remaining manageable behind you. It is the all-round expedition model in the Traverse range – large enough for serious journeys without stepping up to the size of the Traverse 185.
Why choose the Traverse 165?
-
Made for longer journeys – generous carrying capacity for expeditions, extended winter trips and equipment-intensive adventures.
-
Stable with heavier loads – the 56 cm wide hull provides a solid and stable platform when you need to carry more.
-
A versatile expedition size – more capacity than the Traverse 145 while remaining easier to handle than our largest expedition model.
-
Extra protection for your gear – a heavy-duty ripstop cover with a 15,000 mm water column, YKK zipper and secure compression straps protect your equipment from snow and weather.
-
Built for demanding use – reinforced construction, aluminium reinforcement and replaceable runners are made for repeated use in tough winter conditions.
-
Designed and developed in Norway – based on more than 60 years of Fjellpulken experience.
The all-round expedition pulk
On a longer winter journey, carrying capacity quickly becomes important. Food and fuel take up more space with every extra day, while a proper winter camp, warm sleeping equipment and spare clothing add both weight and volume.
The Traverse 165 gives you the room to pack for these journeys without moving all the way up to our largest expedition pulk. Its 165 cm hull and 56 cm width provide a good combination of capacity and stability, with enough width to pack larger items crosswise and organise your equipment efficiently.
The wider profile towards the rear helps keep the pulk stable with heavier loads, while the shaped front helps it move through uneven snow and over obstacles. The reinforced construction makes the Traverse 165 well suited to long expeditions, winter hunting and other trips where both the terrain and the load place greater demands on your equipment.
The cover is made from durable ripstop fabric with a 15,000 mm water column and a heavy-duty 8 mm YKK Vislon zipper. Four 38 mm straps with Duraflex buckles secure the load, while heavy-duty 1000D nylon webbing protects and reinforces the cover.
An aluminium reinforcement strip strengthens the construction, while solid D-rings provide additional options for securing your load or adding pulling assistance when needed.

What else do I need?
For the Traverse 165, we recommend combining the pulk with a Fjellpulken reinforced pulk shaft and expedition harness. This provides a strong and stable connection designed for heavier loads and demanding use.
Add a Packbag to organise and protect your equipment inside the pulk, or use Fjellpulken drybags to keep clothing, sleeping equipment, food and other gear separated and easy to access.
